2015/2016 Crop Forecast
There was a good crop this year. Our detailed
forecast was reported in the New Mexican. Our main competition
who does not even live in New Mexico stated on her website
there there was to be no decent crop this year. Well, she
should have called me before she printed that on her website.
There was a good crop. The El Nino rains helped the size,
and quantity. Unfortunately the same weather pattern brought
early snows to the mountains and cut the season short....
There are people who kept on buying despite the quality of
the December pinon being way off from the snowed on nuts....
SO beware... If it sounds too good to be true.... OK... What
do I mean.... When the snow hits the pinon ... it gets wet...
but then the kernel absorbs the moisture and then FREEZES...
and this destroys the live kernel inside.... and what do you
have when you have a dead non frozen food? spoilage. AKA Rancid
as you know them in the pinon business....
SO we stopped buying after the first snows....
We stocked up early.
When
doing online business, please do a better business bureau
search of their name, you might be surprised who you are thinking
of buying from if not us...

2014
/ 2015 CROP FORECAST
There
was a small 2014 / 2015 crop in Salida Colorado, Northern
New Mexico, and a few other areas. We did not post information
about it on our website as no other distributors was able
to locate it. It was not in the "usual area" so
some people who only deal with brokers and sell online were
stuck. One merchant lives in Missouri and "specializes"
in pine nuts.... We were not about to let our competition
know where it was. Where it was there were hardly any pickers,
so the price went through the roof.
However,
The crop is good size and since it has been 4 years since
a GOOD Crop, we took what we could get. We have 100% Fresh
crop as we have been sold out of NM Pinon for a few years.
When
doing online business, please do a better business search
of the name, you might be surprised.
Thank
you and have a great day
